Yong Hak Huh, Founder and CEO of First Bridge Strategy Limited, is an experienced investor, trusted advisor, and M&A practitioner. He works with large financial institutions including life insurance companies, pension funds, and sovereign wealth funds, and helps them pioneer new inroads into the world of alternative investment. With those investors who already have significant exposure, First Bridge can provide creative solutions to improve their overall return.
Prior to establishing First Bridge in 2015, Mr. Huh was the first Chief Investment Officer of Private Markets and Direct Investment at Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) from 2008 to 2014. At the HKMA, he pioneered and managed an alternative asset portfolio comprised of a diverse range of private equity funds, co-investments, secondaries, distressed credit, technology venture funds and real estate on a global basis. He also served as Advisor to investor committees at many renowned private equity funds, venture capital funds and distressed credit funds. In real estate, he has executed many significant acquisitions and development joint ventures in major global gateway cities including Frankfurt, Paris, London, New York, L.A., San Francisco and Seoul.
By 2014, his portfolio grew to US$25 billion and has generated exceptional since inception returns.
Prior to joining the HKMA, Mr. Huh was Head of Financial Institutions Group for Asia and Head of Korea at Investment Banking Division of HSBC from 2004 to 2008. During 2003 to 2004, Mr. Huh was a Partner at Olympus Capital, a private equity firm exclusively focused on Asian investments.
For over 18 years from 1985 to 2003, Mr. Huh worked at J.P. Morgan in various senior positions in New York, Seoul and Hong Kong. His most recent position at J.P. Morgan was Head of M&A and concurrently Head of Telecom Media & Technology for Asia based in Hong Kong.
Mr. Huh received a Master of International Affairs from the School of International Affairs at Columbia University in New York in 1984 and a BA in Political Science and Diplomacy from Korea University in 1982. Mr. Huh also attended the Executive Program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 2014.
